Healthcare Heroes: Caroline DeBernardi

Caroline DeBernardi is living proof that you don’t need to be a doctor or a nurse to help patients who are ill with the coronavirus. As a service associate in the Department of Environmental Services at Addison Gilbert Hospital, she talks to patients as she cleans their rooms. She sees firsthand the loneliness that many of them are feeling because the COVID-19 pandemic has forced hospitals to ban most visitors.

Thank you from the President

Dear Friends and Loyal Supporters,

On behalf of our care teams, who have been working tirelessly during these past few months, I thank you for the amazing support you have  given us during these uncharted times.

We are proud to have cared for more than 500 patients with COVID-19 during the months of March, April, May and June, along with more than 5,100 other inpatients. And we delivered hundreds of babies!  All this while shifting to a telehealth platform for patients with routine and non-urgent needs.

As we begin a phased return to normal hospital operations, we are prepared and ready should there be another wave in the pandemic. But right now, we are now focused on preparing to safely welcome you back for the routine and preventive in-person services you need. Our Safe Care plan meets or exceeds safety standards from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Learn more here.

Our Healthcare Heroes Fund, established as the pandemic began, provides immediate resources to our nurses, physicians and other hospital staff. I invite you to make a gift today to help keep our providers, patients and [North Shore/Cape Ann] community safe.

I am profoundly grateful for your generosity. Your gifts to Addison Gilbert Hospital enable us to provide the highest quality patient care close to home.

With sincere appreciation,

Philip Cormier
