Meet the Executive Director
David Brabeck, MD, FACP, became Executive Director of the Lahey Clinic Alumni Association in 2018, following the many years of dedicated service provided by Arthur Mourtzinos, MD.
Dr. Brabeck is a proud Lahey alumnus, having completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine here. He has been a hospitalist in the Department of Hospital Medicine since 2008. He served as the department’s vice chair, 2010 – 2016. After developing an interest in perioperative medicine, Dr. Brabeck formed the Orthopedic-Hospital Medicine Comanagement program with Dr. Andrew Marcantonio. Over the past five years Dr. Brabeck has also worked for the Department of General Internal Medicine in the Preoperative Center. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
“I am thrilled to take on this role and am excited to implement opportunities to increase our residents’ and interns’ engagement in the Alumni Association,” Dr. Brabeck said. “We have a strong tradition of our physicians remaining active in the organization to help further our legacy of medical excellence. I would like to thank Dr. Mourtzinos for the eight years of leadership in his role as Executive Director and for the strong tradition of alumni involvement that he cultivated.” In addition to increased member engagement, Dr. Brabeck’s priorities include learning opportunities for young physicians to avoid physician burnout and to continued support of the education of Lahey’s residents and fellows.
Dr. Brabeck is a passionate educator and mentor, serving as Lahey’s Internal Medicine Residency Association Associate Program Director. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University Medical School and Adjunct Clinical Instructor for Northeastern University’s Physician Assistant Program.
