3.2 Million Reasons for Lahey’s Healthcare Heroes to Thank You

Here’s to You

The Lahey Hospital & Medical Center community rallied around our caregivers at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, you gave more than $3.2 million for our Healthcare Heroes Emergency Response Fund. Your remarkable generosity enabled Lahey to support and celebrate our frontline caregivers, bolster testing capabilities to curb the spread of COVID-19, and enable meaningful communication between patients and families during the surge.

Your gifts specifically made possible:

  • Our greatly expanded on-site testing: Lahey now completes about 400 tests per day, with results in 24 hours
  • Communication between critically ill patients and families, thanks to the purchase of iPads that nurses used to facilitate video calls
  • Generous face-value gift cards to staff who went above and beyond and made personal sacrifices, including working overtime and forgoing time with their own families at the height of the surge

“I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the past six months,” said David L. Longworth, MD, president of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. “This pandemic has been unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetimes, and we are not through it yet. Whatever lies ahead, I know we will get through it and emerge even stronger.”

On behalf of our health care heroes and patients, THANK YOU!
